Bids for 3 state
enterprises to be
opened on Thursday

LAHORE: The Privatization Commission (PC) would open the sealed bids for the privatization of Nowshera Chemicals, Amangarh, Shikarpur Rice Mills, and Harnai Woollen Mills on August 24, a commission official said.
It is for the second time, that bids have been invited for the privatization of these three units.
Nowshera Chemicals, Amangarh, has a present capacity to manufacture 6000 metric tonnes of alum annually. Located on 154 kanals of freehold land, it is close to the Grand Trunk Road. Nowshera Chemicals carries liabilities of Rs 35.995 million, with a facility that the buyer shall not pay the FCCCL current account loans, employees' gratuity and pensions outstanding as on the date of transfer. The unit which is lying closed has only seven employees, who are looking after the unit.
Shikarpur Rice Mills, has approximately 26 acres of land (covered area: about 81,973 square feet). It is located at Gari Shaheed Allah Buksh on the highway outside Shikarpur. The unit which is located in the prime rice rice-growing area has rice husking machinery in good condition. The buyer will not be responsible to repay the loan due to the federal government as of transfer date, which is about Rs 9.634 million.
Harnai Woollen Mills, District Sibi, is located on 43 acres of land, out of which about 20 acres is leased land. The unit has a present rated capacity of 353,233 metres annually for worsted fabrics. The assets of the units are being offered for sale in two lots for which separate bids have been ivited.
In lot No. 1, building and structure have been included, while in the second lot plant and machinery and other fixed assets has been included. Since the sale is on the assets alone basis, the buyer will not be responsible for any liabilities.
