LAHORE: Mixed trend prevailed at Akbari Mandi. Prices moved both ways on Saturday in the main commodity sale centre of the city.

Active trading was seen in pulses. Sugar, following the raids by the FIA throughout Punjab, lost Rs five. Oil, rice and Kiryana maintained their prices.

Local traders said if the sugar dealers called for a strike, they would support the move. They saw the latest moves of the law enforcement agencies as harassment and said business could not be conducted in such an environment.

In the pulses sector, Dal Masoor increased by Rs 60 per maund. Traders termed the rise routine. Such price movements take place before the new crop which is to arrive into the market in October.

Dal gram also increased by Rs 10 per maund which, dealers said, was a manipulative move.
