ISLAMABAD: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has carried out large-scale transfers and promotions as a part of reorganization of the Income Tax Department.

Five new regions have been created, against three in the past, and four new zones have been added.

Observers with the promotions as reward of the performance of the CBR which collected Rs 55 billion more over the previous year.

This year the CBR is to collect Rs 276 billion, an additional Rs 50 billion over the last year.

Chairman Alvi Abdul Rahim had indicated that the CBR has programmed to complete the promotions, postings and transfers as early as possible in the year so that the officers could concentrate on real task, that is, augmenting the revenues.

Following transfers, postings and promotions have been ordered.
