RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Seven persons were killed and several others injured in different incidents of violence in the city on Saturday.

Manzoor Ahmed and Shoukat Ali, who were kidnapped from Korangi, were found lying in a pool of blood near Owais Qarni Mosque in Korangi. Shoukat was dead and Manzoor was in critical condition. Both of them bore marks of torture and bullet wounds.

The bullet riddled dead body of Aslam Pervaiz was found lying in New Karachi Sector 5-G. His hands were tied on his back and had been shot in the head.

Irshadullah's dead body was found lying in Liaquatabad No.5. He was said to be a shopkeeper of the area.

The body of an unidentified man was recovered from a bag found near Korangi Market.

Muzammil Hussain was killed in a firing inccident near Liaquatabad Gymkhana.

Ghulam Hussain was killed and Wazir was injured in firing in Liaquatabad 'C' area.

Saira, 10, was injured in sniper firing in Baldia Town, Tanvir Jan was injured in an incident in New Karachi.

Noor Hussain, who was injured in a firing incident in New Karachi two days ago died at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Some miscreants torched a car near Baqai Hospital.

An unidentified man was killed in sniper firing in Pak Colony area.

Armed men looted 35 passengers of a coach near Gadap. The coach was coming from Sukkur.

APP adds: At least three students sustained minor injuries in clashes between rival groups at Karachi University on Saturday, campus sources said.

They said that supporters of a right-wing students organisation annoyed at the killing of two of their workers in the city the other day, attacked workers of a rival student organisation injuring three of them.

However, the Rangers deployed at the capus immediately brought the situation under control.

Meanwhile, a Karachi University press release said that five outsiders belonging to a students group entered the campus and tried to take revenge from students of rival group but Rangers intervened and no untoward incident took place.

Meanwhile, deans of Karachi University faculties in a joint statement appealed to the Karachiites to help the Karachi University administration and faculty members in maintaining the sanctity of the University.

They said that the problems of the city should be confined to the city itself.
