Bombay market
closes for
Hindu festival
BOMBAY: The Bombay cotton market was closed for a Hindu festival. It will reopen on Saturday.
On Thursday, cotton prices rose from the previous day's steady levels due to the absence of rains in producing centres.
In spot, Gujarat Kalyan rose 150/200 rupees per candy (355.56 kg) to 14,700/15,100. Punjab F-414 gained 25/50 rupees per maund (37.32 kg) to 2,250/2,325 and saw-ginned was up by a similar amount to 1,825/1,975 rupees per maund.-Reuter
