NAIROBI: The Kenyan shilling weakened against the dollar and pound at Tuesday's opening, commercial bank traders said.

The shilling was posted at a commercial bank mean rate of 55.25 against the dollar, down 20 cents from a mid-rate of 55.05 on Monday. Against the pound it was at a commercial bank mean rate of 86.91 from 86.29 on Monday.

Commercial bank traders said the shilling's losses were due to increased demand for hard currency from importers.-Reuter
