RECORDER REPORT
LAHORE: A high-powered trade delegation comprising Dutch traders, industrialists and investors will visit Pakistan in November this year to promote bilateral trade and investment in collaboration with Pakistani counterparts.
This was disclosed by Javed Hussain, Pakistan's Ambassador-designate to the Netherlands in a meeting with Tariq Saigol, President of Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI). Sh. Wahiduddin Senior Vice-President of the LCCI, Agha Jamal Hyder, Rehmatullah Javed Executive Committee Members and a prominent industrialist, Shamshad Ali were also present on this occasion.
Javed Hussain said that second meeting of joint business council will be held in Pakistan in mid November, 1995 in collaboration with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Dutch Employers Federation (DEF). On this occasion the Dutch business delegation will also meet their business counterparts in the LCCI.
Referring to the issue of baseless and unfounded propaganda of child labour in Pakistani carpet industry, the ambassador-designate said that the visit of the delegation will help in unfolding the reality of the poisonous propaganda of our so-called child labour in the West.
Javed felt satifaction over the Pakistan's exports to Holland. However, he asked Pakistani exports to further explore the lucrative export market of this country.
Earlier, Tariq Saigol, President of the LCCI warmly welcomed the Ambassador-designate and said that effective measures should be taken by the government at diplomatic levels to dispel the baseless propaganda of child labour which was aired on international level to harm Pakistan's exports.
Saigol was delighted over the arrival of the Dutch business delegation. He said that there were ample scope for joint ventures in the fields of dairy farming, fishery, sugar machinery for cement manufacturing, agriculture industry, electric pump and ready-made garments and the Dutch investors should concentrate on these fields.
