PESHAWAR: The National Independence Day is being clebrated throughout NWFP and adjoining tribal-areas on Monday with usual enthusiasm and renewed zeal.

The day will be a closed holiday, the National Flag will be hoisted on principal buildings to mark the day and special programmes will be held highlighting importance of the day. All main bazars, shopping centres and public and private buildings have been tatefully decorated with National Flags and buntings. In the provincial metropolis,large banners have been displayed on many government and private buildings.

At Jinnah Park, a special function will be held in the evening - at which Chief Minister Aftab Khan Sherpao will be the chief guest.

A beautiful display of fireworks will take place at the stadium to be arranged by the local Municipal Corporation.

The Independance Day functions will also be held at other main cities of the province like Mardan, Kohat, Abbottabad, D.I. Khan, Swat, Haripur, Bannu, Nowshera etc.
