No pressure on

PTV from drug

mafia: says Ansari

ISLAMABAD: There is no pressure on Pakistan Television from the drug mafia, said the General Manager PTV Ishrat Ansari here on Saturday.

Addressing a press briefing here at his office he said the drug mafia cannot influence the PTV. He termed as ridiculous a news item published in a section of press suggesting that drama serial 'Aik Thee Gurya' is being cut short on the pressure of drug mafia. He said "the serial is being wound up in seven episodes instead of 13 due to its weak story".

Asked as to why the plot of the drama serial was approved if the story was weak, he said it is difficult to give hundred percent correct assessment about some play, merely by seeing one or two episodes.

Ansari said it was going well initially but could not maintain its tempo. He said every item written is not necessarily good as every poet cannot become Faiz Ahmed Faiz. He said everyone considers himself as a legend thinking that what he has written is a "masterpiece." None is ready to accept his faulty", he added.

About reports that the rest of the episodes of the play will be telecast by the NTM he said "the private channel is free to do so".

It may be recalled here that 'Aik Thee Gurya' was severely criticized by the people and the press for containing obscenity and cheap dialogues.-PPI
