oil ends lower

KUALA LUMPUR: Palmoil prices ended little changed after trading within a tight range on lack of follow-through demand after Pakistan's offtake overnight.

Traders said players also liquidated their positions in anticipation of falls in Chicago soyoil futures prices tonight.

"There is no follow-through demand and people are also selling on speculation of lower Chicago prices," a trader said.

Prices were locked within tight ranges as players were reluctant to trade actively in a market lacking clear direction.

The market is awaiting July crop reports from Malaysia's crop forecaster, Ivan Wong and the Palm Oil Registration and Licensing Authority, due early next week.

Turnover on the futures market fell to 1,659 lots from 1,895 lots on Thursday.

Third month October futures closed eight ringgit down at 1,351 ringgit ($546) a tonne.

Physicals Aug crude palmoil (south) was offered at 1,445 ringgit a tonne after trading at 1,432.50 and 1,435.

In refined products, Aug RBD palmoil was offered at $617.50 a tonne FOB Malaysia, Sept at $610 and Oct/Nov/Dec at $602.50. Aug was traded at $615 and Sept at $610 and $607.50.

Aug RBD palm olein was offered at $640, Sept at $632.50 and Oct/Nov/Dec at $627.50. Sept was traded at $631, $630 and $627.50 and Oct/Nov/Dec at $627.50.

Aug RBD palm stearin saw sellers at $507.50 and Sept at $502.50. Sept/Oct palm fatty acid distillate were offered at $425.
