KMC to distribute

national flags

free of cost

KARACHI: KMC is establishing free national flag distribution camps at 10 different places in Karachi on August 13 in connection with the Independence Day celebrations on August 14.

This decision has been taken on the directive of Administrator KMC, Fahim Zaman Khan at a meeting held under the chairmanship of KMC's Director Information and Publication, Shakil Haider Jaffery.

According to the decision, the camps where national flags will be distributed free of cost will be opened at Quaidabad (Landhi), Hasan Square (Gulshan-e-Iqbal), Numaish Chowrangi, First Chowrangi (Nazmabad), Liaquatabd No. 10 Chowrangi, Lea Market, Regal Chowk (Saddar), Orangi Town and Gattar Baghicha (Old Golimar). The flags could be obtained from there from 11.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on Sunday.

The meeting also chalked out an elaborate programme to celebrate the Independence Day in a befitting manner whereby Administrator KMC, Fahim Zaman Khan will unfurl the national flag at KMC Head-Office. A scouts contingent will give salute on the occasion. Thereafter school children will present national songs, tableau and also participate in different competitions.

Administrator KMC will lay a floral wreath at the Quaid's Mazar on behalf of citizens of Karachi at 9.00 a.m. and later distribute sweets and fruits among patients in different hospitals.

KMC is displaying thousands of national flags in various parts of the city in connection with the Independence Day celebrations. A programme of fireworks demonstration has also been organised for the occasion. This programme will be bigger than one held at Safari Park previously.-APP
