Japan gives
Rs 17m flood
relief aid
ISLAMABAD: The people and the government of Japan have heard with great sorrow the news of colossal loss of human lives, extensive damages to properties and widespread devastation in the wake of the monsoon rains during the months of July and beginning of August, causing floods in wide areas of Pakistan, says a press release.
For the relief of those who have suffered from these heavy monsoon rainfall and subsequent floods, Japan has decided to extend to Pakistan emergency assistance for flood relief amounting to US $523,000 (or about Rs 17 million).
This relief package will consist of cash assistance US $300,000 (about Rs 9.7 million) 100 tents, 2,000 blankets, medicines and medical materials amounting to approximately US $223,000 (approximately Rs 7.2 million).
This decision has been made from the humanitarian point of view and in consideration of the friendly relations between Japan and Pakistan.-APP
