Japan

WASHINGTON: President Bill Clinton will travel to Asia in November to attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum summit in Japan, the White House announced on Thursday.

Clinton's November 16-21 visit will include a state visit to Tokyo where he will address security and economic issues with Japanese leaders, according to a White House statement.

At the APEC meeting in Osaka, Japan, Clinton will meet with leaders of the 18 economies that make up the organization formed in 1989 to enhance trade and investment ties in the Pacific region.

Clinton hosted the first APEC leaders summit in Seattle in 1993 and attended the 1994 meeting in Indonesia.-AFP
