ICCI launches series of training & development programmes
KARACHI: The Islamic Chamber of Commerce & Industry an affiliated organ of Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) launched first of its series of training and development programmes for enhancing management and leadership skills in Islamic countries.
Starting in Pakistan, the initiative is likely to be expanded to other countries in the Gulf and the member states of OIC.
The two days' training programme on Leadership was held on March 7 and 8 at the premises of Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was attended by participants from 30 local and multinational corporate sectors employees including representatives from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Welcoming the guests and the participants Dr. Abdulazeem Al-Shamali on behalf of Gulf Centre for Financial and Economic Studies Kuwait, advised that in partnership with the ICCI and local professionals, a series of such training programmes are planned with a view to bridge the gap in professional and management skills in Islamic countries.
Aqeel A. Al-Jassem, Secretary General, Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry outlined the ICCI and one goal of strengthening ties between the 56 Member Islamic Countries in the fields of trade, commerce, insurance, shipping, banking and promotion of investment opportunities and joint ventures within our market.
He said the prime objective of ICCI is to promote economic cooperation by enhancing trade and business relationship between the member countries eventually leading to a common market of Islamic States. Towards this end, the Islamic Chamber has undertaken a well integrated programme of activities which cover holding of training programmes, workshops, seminars, trade fairs etc.
He thanked the Gulf Centre for Financial and Economic Studies Kuwait for initiating this programme in association with Innovation and Technology, the local management consultant who are conducting this programme on situational leadership.
Abdullah Sultan Abdullah, Secretary General of Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry read out the inaugural statement of Abdullah Rashid Al-Kharji, Vice President of Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He also shared the vision of a common market of Islamic states where member countries will have adequate resources and manpower to build a strong synergy and become a source of strength not only within our markets but also going cross border and helping the mankind in other parts of the world.
He supported the idea of Islamic Chamber in imparting training and developing skills of our managers carrying research and building market information database and consultancy services in the field of management including financial, marketing, information technology and human resources. This, he felt, was necessary to survive and succeed in the global village.
At the end of the training programme certificates were distributed.
The Islamic Chamber of Commerce will also organise another training programme on Total Quality Management in May 2000. APP
