20000307LHC disposes of MPA's petition contesting ban to carry arms

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court disposed of a petition filed by a deposed MPA Tariq Anees, against the government decision to put a ban on carrying weapons, as the law officer informed the court that the govenrment had banned only display of arms.

The petitioner contended that he had an enemity with his rivals and so far two of his close relatives and four others had fallen victim to that enemy. Hence, his family members could not move without carrying arms, he pleaded.

He prayed to the court to decare the action of the government as illegal and against the fundamental human rights.

The court disposed of the petition after the law officer informed the court that the government had not banned carrying the weapons.
