ESUP elects office-bearers

KARACHI: The Annual General Meeting of the English Speaking Union of Pakistan's National Council was held here on March 3, and was presided by Abdul Kader Jaffer, ESUP President.

Following were elected unopposed for two years.

President: Abdul Kader Jaffer; Vice Presidents: Byram D. Avari; Abdullah Hussain Haroon; Brig. Sadiq N. K. Awan (R) (Co-opted, being President, ESUP (Islamabad Branch), Maj. Gen. (R) S. Wajahat Hussain (Co-opted), being President, ESUP Lahore branch, Geoffrey Allen, Australian High Commission (Co-opted), and David Marry, British Dy. High Commissioner, Karachi (Co-opted); Secretary General: Mrs. Shahida Jamil, Bar at Law; Treasurer: Talib Hussain Uquaili; and Honorary Secretary: Ms. Talat Rahim.

Following were elected as National Council Executive Committee members:

Begum G. Ispahani, Ruhul Amin Ahmed, Tariq Rangoonwala, Begum Tehmina Habibullah, John Cowasjee, Syed Iradat Hussain, Naveed A. Khan, Abdul Wahid Bawany, and Rafiq A. Suhrawardy.
