Dewa trust to establish more centres

ISLAMABAD: The Deaf Education Welfare Association (Dewa) Trust has decided to set-up a network of rehabilitation centres for the deaf across the country during the year 2000-2001, a press release said on Monday.

In its meeting concluded at the end of a week-ling free camp for the deaf, the Trust has approved a plan to establish a model rehabilitation centre at Faisalabad within a month. This centre will mainly concentrate on deaf adults rehabilitation besides extending free counselling and education to the hearing impaired.

The meeting presided over by the Dewa trust chairman Munir Ahmed Lodhi has also decided to organise three-day free camps at Khushab, Murree and Faisalabad in April in order to assess and dispense hearing aids to the needy and deserving. A few free camps were also approved for suburbs of Islamabad including Model Village Noorpur Shahan (Barri Imam) in May next.-APP
