Curbs on engaging foreign consultants
AMER SIAL
ISLAMABAD: All ministries have been directed by the government that in future no foreign consultant could be appointed directly for any project without the prior approval from the Army Monitoring Team.
Sources said that the government has taken this decision as AMT had received a large number of complaints of corruption and malpractices against foreign consultants of different projects. In many cases the charges against the foreign firms were found to be correct.
In order to stop corruption and malpractices related with foreign consultants the government has decided to only give approval to those foreign firms which are cleared by the AMT after complete scrutiny, sources added.
Most of the foreign consultants are working with ministry of communication, food and agriculture and water and power.
