Children suffering from thalassaemia need support: Moin
KARACHI: Interior Minister, Lt. Gen Moin Uddin Haider (Retd) has appealed to the masses in general and Karachiites specifically to help survival of millions of children suffering from thalassaemia and other blood diseases in Pakistan.
The minister who is also the Chairman, Fatimid Foundation talking to the representative committee of the foundation's board of trustee here on Monday, stressed need to generate public patronage for the foundation, involved in the crusade for child survival for last several years.
The meeting discussed measures to improve its performance and expand its periphery throughout the country, decided to initiate direct public contract during the forth coming Eid ul Azha and collect hides.
Commissioner, Karachi assured the meeting all support of the local administration for setting up hide collection camps in the city.
It was mentioned that the foundation currently providing, absolutely free of cost medical assistance to some 10,000 children needs adequate funding, which could be provided through public cooperation.
Moinuddin Haider responding to a proposal forwarded by the sub-committee also decided to launch a national master plan for prevention and treatment of ailments like thalassaemia, haemophilia.
Measures to open Fatimid Foundation branches in Swat and other parts of the country were also reviewed, while different schemes to collect funds were also elaborately discussed by the committee members. APP
