BB criticises LPG allocations

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto has criticised the recent allocations of Liquid Petroleum Gas quotas as scandalous. She wondered if the National Accountability Bureau, headed by a general would investigate the scam of LPG allocations.

According to her, a letter issued by Minister for Petroleum Aminuddin allocating LPG quotas to various parties. LPG includes allocation to POL Attock group and CAP Gas, of which Aminuddin was Managing Director prior to becoming Minister for Petroleum.

The PPP chairperson also questioned the reported allocation to another private concern M/s Lifeline belonging to an ex-Army officer.

She alleged that the recent allocations were in violation of government policy to provide 50 percent of LPG allocations to the backward areas of Pakistan.

She also questioned the reported allocation to the Dutch firm SHV to which a private sector LPG marketing company belonging to an ex-Army officer had recently sold shares. She said this aspect too needed investigation so that the truth could come out.
