RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The Board of Secondary Education, Karachi, has imposed registration fee at the rate of Rs. 60 per student on candidates appearing in the Board's current year examination for Class 1X .
The registration fee which seems to be a money making device was charged from regular students along with the Rs. 345 examination fee. The new fee has been leived despite the fact that all students appearing in the Board's exams are regular students of schools duly recognised by the Board.
This was disclosed by Mohammed Mumtaz Baig, a retired Deputy Commissioner of Karachi West who now runs Greenland Public
school in Block 2 of Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The school is presently center for Classes 1X and X students annual examination.
He said that the registration fee is unjust and unreasonable and was an extra burden on parents of regular students who are often squeezed frequently by school management.
Mumtaz praised the arrangements made by the Board for examination in free and copying free atmosphere. It is for the first time in so many years that police has not been posted at any examination centre in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Nor there are signs of any military presence.
