PCDA seeks govt patronage

MULTAN: Pakistan Chemists and Druggists Association (PCDA) has demanded of the government to patronise and encourage the national pharmaceutical companies.

PCDA spokesman said here on Sunday that present government should come out with package of incentives and facilities for national pharmaceutical companies so that they could compete with multinationals.

The spokesman said that a multinational which has threatened government to close down its business operation and transaction in Pakistan, has been forced to reduce an injection price by 30 percent in open market and by 40 percent in the hospital price, as a Pakistani pharmaceutical company, encouraged by the government, has brought the same medicine in the market at most competitive price.

PCDA also said that military government should not bow to such pressure tactics by multinational pharmaceutical companies minting millions of dollars from Pakistan.
