Mohtasib directs AGPR solve govt staff's problems

ISLAMABAD: Wafaqi Mohtasib, Justice Muhammad Bashir Jehangiri said it was imperative to solve problems of the government servants relating to their pension, allowances, missing credits, different advances and GP Fund payments.

He gave these directives at a meeting held here with the AGPR and his senior Officers in the wake of growing complaints about the AGPR, pouring in the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat.

He requested the Accountant General Pakistan Revenues to ensure implementation of measures for redressing grievances of government employees concerning their account matters.

The Mohtasib emphasised that concrete steps should be initiated to prevent occurrence of similar problems faced by government servants. The officials found to be responsible for recurrence of identical grievances should be held accountable for action, he recommended.

The AGPR Officers made a presentation of various steps that have recently been initiated to facilitate and improve their working including computerisation of GP Fund Account and establishment of a complaint cell and opening of one window operations.

Expressing satisfaction over the developments, the Wafaqi Mohtasib observed that the situation should be regularly watched and success of the remedial action be made certain.

The Wafaqi Mohtasib further recommended that the house building, motor car and motor cycle advances should be provided strictly on turn.

He noted that the trend to grant such advances on the so-called priority rather than merit basis was becoming a routine which was unfair that deprived the general applicants.

He advised the concerned government authorities to exercise extreme caution while according such priority and restrict it only to exceptionally deserving cases. APP
