JJ's stress on strengthening SOS village movement

KARACHI: The Adviser to the Chief Executive on Information and Media Development, Javed Jabbar, has called for strengthening the SOS Village movement in the country.

He was giving his impressions after taking part as chief guest in a walk in Clifton area on Sunday morning to help raise funds for the SOS School in Karachi's Malir area. "I would appeal that the SOS movement be further strengthened," he remarked.

A number of people from various walks of life including women and children took part in a five-kilometre walk that began from the Boat Basin and finished at the same point.

The participants of the walk covered the distance in about an hour's time.

Ms Zohra Karim, Vice-Chairperson of the SOS Children's Village in Sindh, said that the walk was organised by the Friends of SOS with the aim of raising funds for the SOS School in Malir.

She said that the event also marked the 25 years of the SOS Movement in the country.

Ms Karim said that about 150 children have been lodged at the SOS Village in Karachi's Malir area.

She said that Javed Jabbar is also a member of the SOS Village Committee for Sindh.

Addressing the participants at the starting point of the walk, Javed Jabbar said that he was happy to see so many people gathering here on a Sunday morning to express their sense of solidarity, friendship and love with the children of SOS.

"The children of SOS are the children of Pakistan so it is good to be here," he remarked. APP
