Israeli jets attack Lebanon for third day
TYRE: Israeli warplanes raided suspected guerrilla positions in south Lebanon for the third consecutive day on Sunday, a security source and the Israeli army said.
Israeli jets fired four rockets on the al-Qaisiyeh valley, east of the port city of Tyre and north of Israel's south Lebanon occupation zone, the security source said.
An Israeli army statement released in Jerusalem confirmed the raid. "Israeli air force planes attacked in the morning hours terrorist targets all our planes returned safely to their bases."
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
On Saturday Israeli planes raided the central sector of southern Lebanon after an Israeli soldier was seriously wounded in guerrilla fire on his post in the zone. Israel also launched similar raids on Friday.
The raids come amid increased tension in the south this week where Hizbollah guerrillas killed five pro-Israeli militiamen and wounded three others in attacks on the 15 km zone Israel occupies.
Hizbollah and other guerrillas are waging a war of attrition to drive out Israeli troops and their South Lebanon Army allies from the zone.-Reuters
