Commissioner, KMC administrator appointed coordinators

KARACHI: Sindh government has appointed the Commissioner Karachi and Administrator KMC as coordinators for launching drives against insanitation and encroachments in the city so that attention could be paid to maintaining cleanliness under a uniform policy.

Through a notification the concerned departments have been directed to utilise the available resources, through the coordinators, in a better way to bring improvement in their performance and pursue a uniform policy for the entire city.

Meanwhile at a meeting held at the KMC, it was decided to take all possible measures for maintaining sanitary conditions on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and efforts be made to achieve 100 percent results with the utilisation of existing resources and manpower.

Accordingly it would ensured that employees of the municipal corporations, worked on eight-hour dutyt. All personnel, right from the director down to worker level, will have to have the map of their respective area of work. They will have to have the knowledge about the number of employees deployed at specified spots.

It has also been decided that on implementation of this policy, fines will be imposed on persons throwing garbage outside their house or shop. An awareness will be created among them to place the garbage bag outside before sweeping is done by the sanitary staff.

It has also been decided to frame a policy regarding repair/inspection of garbage lifting vehicles.

As per policy decision the KMC will be responsible for cleaning of Shaheed-e-Millat Road, Baloch Colony Bridge, Rashid Minhas Road and Sharea Faisal Bridges. APP
