govt depts to

pay bills in time

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Air Marshal Azim Daudpota (Retd) on Saturday directed all the government departments to ensure in time payment of electricity bills to the KESC and Wapda respectively.

He directed that besides correct meters, the payments concerning defective meters, too, would be made with an understanding that after reconciliation of the account paid, the amount charged in excess, will be considered to have been paid as original bill.

Presiding over a high-level meeting held at Governor House to review payment of electricity bills, he directed that payment of all bills must be made on regular basis and in case of any complaint, the issue be settled with federal government departments in a friendly and amicable atmosphere in the light of rules and regulations.

Taking notice of post-Octroi withdrawal situation, it was decided that the KESC will be asked to recover the same tariff from the KWSB as the same is recovered by Wapda from Wasa.

It was also decided to instal meters of all Wasa pumping stations in Hyderabad.

On the occasion Provincial Secretary Local Government Aslam Sanjrani, informed that local bodies have started payment of electricity bills and maximum payments will be made during next week.

The Governor made it clear that from next financial year, the local bodies will have to pay electricity bills on their own, without depending on the government. He said they should chalk out their strategy and carry out budgeting in this regard.

He directed the KWSB to ensure just distribution of water to all parts of the city and there should be no complaint that an area is not getting water for days in a single stretch.ÑAPP
