'No downsizing planned in KESC'
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) is not considering any scheme of downsizing, lay off or forced retirement, a spokesman of the Corporation said on Saturday.
"No forced retirement of regular employees or downsizing is in the offing. Honest and efficient staff members have nothing to fear," he quoted KESC chairman, Lt. General Zulfiqar Ali Khan as saying. However, he clarified that corrupt and inefficient employees of the KESC would be dealt with sternly.
The spokesman said that the recent retirement of four officers and four staff members from service was based on findings of perpetual irregularities committed by them and on public complaints of their high-handedness.
He said that no committee has been setup by the KESC to scrutinise cases of the employees. The personnel department of the corporation was engaged in updating the obsolete information of service record of the corporation's employees to infuse efficiency in working, reward and promotion, where it was due on merit and better utilisation of the manpower, he added.
