LCCI chief opens S Lankan food festival, cultural show

LAHORE: A three-day "Sri Lankan Food Festival and Cultural Show" opened here at Pearl Continental hotel on Friday night. Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Ch. Mohammad Ilyas inaugurated the ceremony.
The festival, organised by Pearl Continental Hotel in collaboration with Sri Lankan Airlines, will continue till March 5.
A large number of prominent figures from business community, aviation industry and mediamen attended the ceremony, and enjoyed delicious dishes prepared by the Sri Lankan chefs, who had especially came to Lahore for the purpose.
While addressing, Sri Lankan Airlines country manager said that the airlines, which was currently operating to 33 destinations worldwide, will also start flying to Dhaka and Milan very soon. "It is the only airline, which has the latest fleet of aircraft in the whole region," he claimed.
He said the airlines, despite difficult market conditions in Pakistan would continue its operations, and was ready to meet the challenges of the new millennium.
Lahore Pearl Continental General Manger Arshad B. Anjum said that the basic objective of this festival was to introduce Pakistani people with various foods of Sri Lanka, which is known as the land of "aromatic spices." He said the hotel had also planned many more such kind of events in the near future.
