Customs impounds 14 smuggled vehicles

KARACHI: Fourteen smuggled vehicles were impounded during previous two days by five special teams of the Customs Preventive Collectorate.

The vehicles were intercented and checked for documents by the special team in different areas of the city. Out of these, 11 were Toyota Corolla cars a hi-lux pick-up and two Mercedes Benz.

The campaign was launched after the grace period for legalisation of the vehicles expired a fortnight ago.

The teams will continue to check the vehicles in the city for payment of customs and excise duty levied on imported vehicles.

Besides five teams, a coordination body has also been established which includes a legal expert, administration and computer branch officials for verification/processing of the papers/case of the impounded vehicles.ÑAPP
