Liaquatabad flyover to be completed in October
KARACHI: The Rs 240 million flyover in Liaquatabad Karachi District Central which would help ease traffic jams will be opened for vehicular traffic in November this year, officials said here on Thursday.
Earlier, it was scheduled to be completed by end of this month, but due to some delays construction work by various agencies would be completed by October.
They said all bottlenecks, including encroachments have been removed. The National Construction Limited is carrying out construction work on the flyover, which would be the longest in Pakistan. Originally the work on the flyover which started in May 1995, was scheduled to be completed in November, 1999. Later, the deadline was extended to March 2000, and then to October this year.
The flyover, covering three intersections i.e. at Liaquatabad, No-10, Karimabad and Railway Circular, is 1.75 kilometers long and 72 feet wide.
Out of the total cost of Rs 240 million, one-third has been contributed by the federal government, while remaining two-third jointly borne by the provincial government and the KMC. PPI
