LHC CJ forms special benches
RECORDER REPORT
LAHORE: Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Justice Mian Allah Nawaz, has constituted special benches to hear the matters pertaining to bank dues/loans and taxes.
The chief justice has taken this decision in pursuance of the decisions taken in the chief justices' committee meeting.
The bench, comprising Justice Tanvir Ahmed Khan, Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum and Justice Sayed Zahid Hussain will hear the matters relating to the recovery of the bank loans, while the bench comprising Justice Shed Jamshed Ali and Justice Mohammad Najam-uz-Zaman will hear tax-related matters.
Necessary directions have been issued to all the district and sessions judges to receive applications from the widows and orphans for the accelerated and speedy disposal of their cases and to pass necessary orders thereon, as desired by the chief justices' committee.
It has also been directed that applications for the grant of maintenance and for interim custody of minors be decided on top priority basis.
The chief justice has also nominated the judges to monitor the working and functioning of the subordinate courts as well as the courts established under the Anti-terrorism Act 1987.
Justice Falak Sher will monitor Lahore division, Justice Tanver Ahmed Khan, Gujranwala division, Justice Mian Nazir Akhtar, Rawalpindi division, Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum, Faisalabad division, Justice Mohammad Nawaz Abbasi, Multan division, Justice Mohammad Naseem Chaudhry, Bahawalpur division and Justice Mohamamd Asif Jan, D.G.Khan division.
Furthermore, a committee of three senior officers of the high court comprising Noor Hussain, Syed Ijaz Qutab, Additional Registrar and Salah-ud-Din, OSD, has been constituted by the chief justice to examine the pay scale of the judges of the subordinate courts, employees of the high court and the subordinate courts.
It will submit a comprehensive and workable report about their revision keeping in view the financial constraints of the country.
