Govt curbs pro-Kashmir groups activities
ISLAMABAD: The government has curbed the activities of Pakistan-based groups supporting freedom fighters in occupied Kashmir, sources said on Thursday.
"The government has stopped the groups from issuing provocative statements against Western countries, especially the United States, in view of the forthcoming trip of President Bill Clinton to South Asia," the sources said.
The government has specifically placed restrictions on Maulana Masood Azhar, chief of the recently established Jaish-i-Mohammed group.
He was released last month after 25 days in the custody of intelligence agencies in the wake of his vitriolic statements against the United States and India. Restricting his activities as ordered, the report said, Azhar has decided not to meet the press.
His associates are keeping his activities secret and even the intelligence agencies are reportedly having a hard time keeping a tab on his whereabout.-Internews
