Balochistan releases
Rs 11,171.776m to step
up progress

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has made a record release of Rs 10103.045 million for non-development expenditure and Rs 1068.731 million for development during current financial year 1999-2000 to streamline administration and step up pace of progress in the province.
This is indicated in a statement showing the budget and release position of funds from July 1, 1999 to the mid-February, 2000, the statement shows that out of total non-development expenditure budget of Rs 17,151.689 million for the financial year million for 1999-2000, Balochistan is now left with a balance of Rs 7048.644 million after the release of Rs 10103.045 million by the Finance Department.
Similarly, the provincial government has a balance of Rs 4451.437 million, out of total development budget of Rs 5,520.168 million, after release of Rs 1,068.73 million by the Finance Department.
The release of Rs 1068.73 million includes Rs 761.57 million for non-SAP and Rs 307.160 million for SAP projects.
All such projects have been deleted from the development programme as were either politically motivated or made to benefit an individual or group of individuals.
Official sources confirmed here on Thursday that only such development project had been retained and would be beneficial to the community or constituency as a whole. The balance of Rs 4451.437 million would be released progressively over a period of four months before the fall of the current financial year 1999-2000.
Similarly, official sources added, that balance of Rs 7048.644 million for non-development expenditure would also be released gradually before the end of the current fy 1999-2000 over a period of four months.
