AJK court acquits 6 ACs 4 ASPs of fraud
From a correspondent
Muzaffarabad: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Thursday acquitted five assistant commissioners and four assistant superintendent of police from the charges of receiving double pay by fraudulent means during their training.
The AJK Ehtesab Commission had filed a case against six ACs and four ASPs in the High Court following the appearance of a news item in a Urdu daily in 1998 that they deceitfully received the double pay from their parent department in Azad Kashmir board of revenue and police and from civil services academy, Lahore, during their training period.
Mr. Justice Syed Manzoor H Gillani in the 17 pages detailed judgement ruled that as after the appearance of the news the accused have refund the amount to their departments concerned and the Ehtesab Cell filed the case with the High Court after the refund.
He held that no young officer who has to run the administration of the country in future could not put his carrier at stake for few thousands and questioned that when their pay was transferred to civil services academy, Lahore, by their parent department why their monthly pay bill was approved from the account sections of the departments concerned and also from the accountant general office, AJK.
Justice Gillani ordered that since the accused have shown sufficient cause for not convicting them for the offence for which they are charged, therefore, they are acquitted of all the charges.
