Commerce ministry proposes recruitment in Grade-17 thru FPSC
T A MALIK
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Commerce has proposed 75 percent recruitment in BS-17 for commerce and trade group directly through Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) according to Recruitment Rules of 1975.
Sources said that Secretary Commerce Qamar Baig has put a detailed report to the Establishment Division for making reforms in the recruitment rules for commerce and trade group.
The secretary said that 75 percent recruitment in BS-17 be made direct through FPSC and remaining 25 percent through inter-departmental promotion examination of graduate assistants. He also suggested that inter-departmental examination should also be conducted by FPSC.
Currently, 60 percent posts of commerce and trade group are being filled directly and 40 percent through inter-departmental examinations.
The government, in 1987 had made some amendments in the rules and decided to recruit 60 percent directly in BS-17 and 40 percent through inter-departmental promotion.
The Secretary has recommended restoration of Recruitment Rules 1975 for commerce and trade group for appointment in BS-17.
The allocation of posts for commerce and trade group after reforms would increase automatically and encourage the candidates applied for FPSC examinations, the sources added.
