KARACHI: The general council of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, March 30, 2000, at 10.30 a.m. at Regent Plaza (formerly Taj Mahal Hotel).

APNS Secretary General Arshad A Zuberi has announced that the general council will discuss in length the conditions prevailing in the newspapers industry and take decisions to address the problems faced by member publications.

According to an APNS press release, the general council will be attended by members across the country and shall finalise its recommendations on the issues pertaining to the future of the industry.

The members will consider and adopt the report of the executive committee for the preceding year and elect members to the executive committee for the year 2000-2001. The new executive committee will elect its office bearers for the new term.

Arshad A Zuberi has requested the publications who have not yet paid their annual subscription for the year 2000 and the dues of the Society to ensure that these dues are cleared before the AGM as per rules of the Society.

He has requested all member publications to attend the meeting positively, the press release said.
