Ford workers have the good fortune

LAHORE: Ford Motor Company has announced a programme to provide its global workforce with universal Internet access and the hardware, software and services necessary to enable employees to communicate and collaborate via the Internet.
According to a press release issued here on Monday, in partnership with People PC, HP and UUNET, Ford will make available to all 370,000 employees - hourly and salaried - an HP Pavilion PC, an HP DeskJet printer and access to the Internet from their homes. In the United States, employees will receive a complete setup for just $ five a month.
"Today's announcement showcases how enlightened companies are empowering their employees by making technology accessible," said Carly Fiorina, President and Chief Executive Officer, Hewlett-Packard Company, the release concluded.
