ISLAMABAD
The rupee increased by three paisa against the dollar in the currency exchange establishments of twin cities on Monday.
The markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi commenced the week with a weaker greenback at Rs 54.10 as compared to previous rate of Rs 54.13. Dollar was sold at Rs 54.20 as compared to same rate of last trading.
Money changers said that after several dull sessions, markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi started the day with a comparatively better note. Participation of genuine buyers and sellers in the local kerb expanded the overall turnover in the first session. The market moved in a narrow range and finally closed on a moderate note.
Dealers said that slight fluctuation on the buying side was witnessed during last few sessions, while stagnant position of rupee on the behalf of sellers reflected the change in demand and supply factor.
Pound sterling was surged by 10 paisa as it opened at Rs 86.60 as compared to last Saturday's rate of Rs 86.50.
The British currency moved between Rs 86.60 and Rs 86.70 and was sold at Rs 86.90.
UAE dirham maintained its last week's value as it resumed trading at Rs 14.79 (buying) and was sold at Rs 14.82. Saudi riyal opened at Rs 14.45 and was sold at Rs 14.48.
