12 bookies arrested

FAISALABAD: Twelve Bookmakers were nabbed on Saturday while bidding on cricket test match played between Pakistan and South Africa. The bookmakers had set up a network of bidding in line with houses already established in Lahore and other parts of the country.

On receiving a tip that the gamblers were present in building and were bidding, the Jhang Bazar Police conducted a surprise raid and apprehended 12 bookmakers.

The police also recovered cash of Rs 0.2 million from their possession. It is reported that the bookies and bookmakers were engaged in this business for the last many moths and each bid of Rs 5 to Rs 10 was to be tripled.
