Further increase in power tariff opposed

LAHORE: The opposition leader in the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and a central leader of the Pakistan Industrial & Traders Association Front (PIAF), Mian Anjum Nisar has urged the Wapda not to multiply hardships of common man and business circles by making further increase in electricity tariff.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, he asked the Wapda to abstain from increasing its tariff. The common man and industrial sector should not be punished, if provincial governments were not paying their dues to Wapda.

Anjum said electricity bills of domestic consumers increased during summer season and if the electricity charges raised further, it would be a great injustice with them. He said that the industrial sector was already facing hardships and if electricity charges were increased further, our products would not be able to compete in the international markets.
