Australian education

exhibition today

KARACHI: An Australian Education Exhibition will commence at a local hotel on Saturday.

The event is being held under the auspices of the Aus-Trade and after being held in Karachi for two days it will move to Islamabad (March 28) and Lahore (March 30-31).

The representatives of 14 Australian tertiary education institutions will take part in the event, Azhar Shah, senior business development manager of AusTrade said on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Geoffrey Allen has termed this exhibition an affirmation by the Australian educational institutions that Pakistan remains a country in which Australian education can offer a great deal.

He was of the view that Australia was an increasingly popular destination for students wishing to study in a "Western environment" as well as offering a quality education second to none and a secure and supportive environment.

Australian tuition fees and cost of living expenses are lower than Pakistanis more traditional destinations of the United Kingdom and the USA.

The envoy said it was a classic win-win situation as returning students would bring back top notch skills for the benefit of Pastern and Australia gained from the vibrant input overseas students make to our own education system.

"Both countries gain from the enduring friendships made through education-bonds that often last a lifetime, he said, adding that in all, education was seen as an important element in the Australia-Pakistan relationship.ÑAPP
