BANGKOK: At least 38 farm labourers were killed in a truck which careered off a road in northeastern Thailand and crashed into an electricity pylon, police said on Friday.

The labourers were packed into the truck to return from harvesting sugarcane in central Nakhonsawan province to their homes in northeastern Thailand when the accident happened late on Thursday.

Police said 26 people died instantly while others died on their way to hospital or overnight, police said.

The bodies of 14 men and 14 women have been identified so far.ÑAFP
