Mujahideen
attack BSF camp,
rockets fired
SRINAGAR: Two Munjahideen armed with latest and sophisticated weapons stormed an Indian Border Security Force (BSF) camp at Channapora a bordering area of Srinagar and Budgam districts and make the BSF personnels hostages.
According to details two Mujahideen from Fidayeen Group of Lashkar-e-Tayyaba, opened heavy fire and hurled grenades while forcing their entry into the Small-scale Industrial Corporation (SICP) building housing the 173 Battalion headquarters of BSF, official sources said.
Mujahideen stormed the camp and intense firing and explosions were continue, the sources said. Additional troops from nearby camps have been rushed to the spot they said.
The troops cordoned the building from outside but the casualties, if any, were not known yet, the sources added. However, unconfirmed reports said, three BSF jawans were critically injured.
Lashker-e-Tayyaba has claimed responsibility for the attack. A spokesman of the outfit told the newsmen that two Fidayeen entered the camp and inflicted heavy men and material losses on Indian forces.
He identified the Mujahideen as Abu Imran and Abu Haris and said both were inside the camp and engaged in fierce encounter with Indian forces.
The official spokesman later, stated that the Mujahideen have been killed by the Indian army personnels, but the Mujahideen sources not confirmed the news.
JAMMU: Four rockets were fired by Mujahideen on Darhali bridge in Rajouri while Indian army claimed that it had busted a hideout of Kashmiri Mujahideen in Surankote area of Poonch district. It also claimed the recovery of a huge cache of arms and ammunition.
Acting on a tip-off, troops of Romeo Force and special police officers (SPOs) of Jammu Kashmir police jointly launched a "seek and destroy" operation in Dhara Sangala area against the Mujahideen, said a defence spokesman.-PPI
