JI arranges referendum on CTBT
RECORDER REPORT
LAHORE: The Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan arranged a "referendum" to ascertain the public opinion in favour or against signing of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) throughout the country on Thursday.
In Lahore, special polling booths were established at Chungi Multan Road, Chauburji, Samanabad, Anarkali, Ichhra, Defence Chowk and at various other parts of the city.
According to the Chief Referendum Commissioner, Liaquat Baloch, people fully participated in this referendum, held throughout the country in a peaceful manner.
Counting of the votes polled referendum has started and results will be announced on Friday at a press conference to be addressed by Liaquat Baloch.
Meanwhile, Baloch visited various polling stations of the country and claimed that voters turnout a record. He said the people had proved that they would never allow elimination of atomic capability of the country at any cost.
