German diplomat says Pakistan best country for foeign investment

LAHORE: Pakistan is one of the best countries for making foreign investment because of its capable and skilled, but cheap, labour in the region.

This was stated by Peter Murez, German Consular, who is also head of Economic and Commercial Section of his embassy, while addressing a seminar held at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) here on Thursday. The seminar was arranged by Senior Experten Services (SES), a semi-governmental German organisation from Bonn.

Peter Murez stressed the need for sending trade delegations to Germany so as to get maximum benefit from German expertise. He assured all out support of his embassy in this regard.

Sabine Schmit, SES Coordinator, for Asia, talked about the scope of services offered by senior experts from Germany voluntarily to the industry of Pakistan. She informed that SES could offer a force of 5,000 German experts in every sector of the industry to improve the working of plants, machinery and products.

Earlier, LCCI President, Ilyas M. Chaudhry appreciated the services of SES. He requested the German diplomat to make personal efforts for increasing the economic cooperation with Pakistan.

Former vice-president and zonal chairman of the FPCCI, Iftikhar Ali Malik said that the success story of his own group of companies was linked from the services provided by the German experts.
