Ex-LCCI chief hopeful of winning FPCCI presidential slot

LAHORE: The former president of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ifthikar Ali Malik has showed optimism that he would win elections for the seat of president of the FPCCI for the year 2000-2001. He was talking to Business Recorder here on Thursday.

Iftikhar said that the tradition for the election of FPCCI president was that a candidate who has served the Federation as M.C member and also as a vice president and zonal chairman was generally given preference.

He said having a relevant experience and the support of former presidents of the FPCCI, he hoped to win the slot of president of Federation this time.

Ifthikar said that hopefully candidates for the managing committee of the FPCCI would be elected from industry and agriculture sector, who can suggest how the economy could be put on the keel, sick industry be revived and augmentation in exports achieved.

He disclosed that 39 chambers and 128 associations all over the country would participate in the elections that were likely to be held in December.
