FDA raises water, sewerage charges
RECORDER REPORT
FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) has imposed Rs 29,000 per cusec as industrial sewerage fee per month.
According to an official handout issued here on Wednesday, the FDA has also imposed a fine of Rs 500 per sq.ft for encroachment on shops in commercial areas of the city exceeding up to five feet over the actual shops plan.
Those interested in regularising these encroachments should apply to the FDA before 20th April, 2000, after depositing the fine in the FDA office, otherwise their encroachments would be demolished at their own cost.
The FDA also decided to auction the plots allotted to widows in Ahmad Nagar Town. The FDA has expressed concern for the non-payment of petty allotment price of these plots despite the passage of 14 years. The 130 widow allottees of these plots were served one month's notice by the FDA for deposit of Rs 8,500 as price of per plot but they did not deposit the allotment price, hence the FDA has decided to auction these plots very soon.
The FDA has already increased the water supply rates and sewerage charges by 400 percent to meet the constant deficit of the authority. Previsouly, the rate of the water supply was Rs 50 per month, which has now unilaterally been enhanced to Rs 200 per month. Similarly, the existing sewerage charges has also been raised to Rs 100 per month from existing Rs 25.
Industrialists and citizens have strongly resented the raise in water supply and sewerage rates and urged the Punjab Governor to direct the FDA to bring the rates to their previous level.
