Ticketing system
for traffic offences
soon, says IGP
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: Sindh police chief, Aftab Nabi, said on Wednesday at a meeting the of traffic police officials that ticketing system for traffic offences in the city would soon be introduced once the proposal referred to the provincial home department was cleared by the relevant authorities.
Aftab asked the traffic police officials to improve their tarnished image and better their relations with the general public so that over all improvement in the performance and control of traffic offences could be achieved.
He said the police had lost its image before the general public and its public relations had deteriorated.
He asked the officials to be courteous, polite, and helpful in the implementation of traffic rules. "The rules should be followed at any cost," he added.
Aftab said wireless fitted motorcycles would be procured to improve the mobility of the traffic police, and tow-trucks for towing vehicles and removing bottlenecks in the flow of traffic.
He asked the officers to formulate proposals regarding rationalisation of bus routes so that relief could be provided to the areas suffering from traffic congestion. He also asked the officers to identify places in the congested city areas to be used as parking lots. The places so identified would be shown to relevant authorities for allotment.
