Govt to help exporters
explore markets for
Pak products: Dawood
KARACHI: Federal Minister for Commerce, Abdul Razak Dawood, on Tuesday assured the leading exporters and traders of extending every possible cooperation and assistance to them for exploring potential markets for Pakistani products and boosting the exports to mitigate the economic woes.
According to sources in the Export Promotion Bureau, the minister held a detailed meeting with the leading businessmen and exporters at EPB house here and discussed different problems being faced by the exporters and traders.
The minister apprised the meeting that the government is actively looking after the priority areas like exports which can help revive the national economy on one hand, and ease out the government in meeting the international financial commitments on the other.
He said that the government is committed to encourage private-public partnership as the joint efforts of these two can yield desired results. Value addition and quality orientation in the export industry was focused in the meeting so that the Pakistani products could be made competitive in the global harsh market.
It was decided in the meeting that the geographical advantages should be exploited to the maximum in capturing virgin markets in the region and strive for our share in other global markets.
The brain storming session also helped the export promotion bureau to identify different geological locations to launch aggressive marketing for Pakistani products.
The chairman of the EPB, Tariq Ikram also exchanged views on new marketing strategies to give a new boost to the national exports. He assured the exporters that their problems will be looked into sympathetically and will be redressed on priority basis.
He said that EPB is trying hard to make the exporters feel the difference it is trying to make in facilitating and increasing exports.ÑAPP
